Aye that's all well & good mate, but in places like mine with shit wages, the chronic shortage of housing keeps the houses well out of the price range of the majority of the local population. The only people who can afford the houses are either big city money men, who turn them into holiday lets, or people moving here to retire/relocate from the cities. The amount of hard working young families in overcrowded, privately rented (vastly overpriced rent too) poorly maintained flats round here is sobering.
