Firstly my dog was ill about 5 months ago some kind of poisen and was nearly dead, started lamping again now and have been for the last month i was bagging 7-8 rabbits a night easy, and now were realy struggling shes flat out after bunnys and first opertunity shes strikeing in and missing most of them and sliding 15-20 meters before recovering and getting back on the arse of the bunny!

She used to controll her speed and push the bunny to the vital mistake and that was in in the bag,not now last night had 3 runs,1st run running far to hard and missed the strike, outcome bunny made the cover as she ran to hard!

2nd run she caught the bunny just before the cover and retrived back!

3rd run she was flat out,and one of the best strikes ive seen, picked bunny up on to of a dyke and done 4-5 flips and skidding before smashing into a fence which stopped her,and to my surprise she still kept hold of the bunny, and came back to me lame few cuts etc!

Will the starting days come back to her in time and controll the speed or am i in for a tough time!

Any help be grateful lads/lasses

Regards Miller

Thanks in advance!

Maybe 6 weeks but not out 3-4 days a week like i used to just getting her back to top fitness, shes fit now and should be bagging a few, last night 2 out of 3 i was pleased rabbits were very thin on the ground, downfall is shes still running them far to hard! We used to back 30-40 rabbits a day daytime with 2 lurchers and the terrier, pals dogs still doing well bagging alot of bunnys, shes a slower dog but controlls her speed and forces a mistake! GAMEOVER!

she might just be desparet to get some kills after her time off try getting her some really easy catches and she might calm down abit and start thinking again

Im giving her some real easy runs mate even the easy ones proving difficult 10m off a squatter slip her flat out and strike bunnys moving she recovers and flat out ack up to it first turn strikes in and bunnys avoids her again and then its either this time or its made the cover! :wallbash:

Im sure it will all come back to her in good time, ferreting lately catching bolters quite easy, just thought i would like your views or experience on this!

hello there ste i havent read people posts so theyve probably said this already but she seems a little frustrated from being out so long...its feckall to worry about mate i use to run my bitch on rabbits 3 maybe 4 nights a week to get her 'tuned in' on top form of catching them soon as i had calls for foxes and run them from the car it all went the same a your bitch when back to the rabbits (this was pre ban of course) keep getting her out mate if she misses too many a night id nock it on the head for that night alot of dogs start yapping behind rabbits when frustratedl ike that get her a a few easy runs and just build it back up soon as she has a few her running style will change hopefully shell run alot layed back like my bitch did...let us know
