Mr_Logic 5
Any reason specifically for the Tikka? Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
Just don't forget the good glass Go to your nearest decent gunny and have a good feel of all the rifles he has there in .243, you never know, you may be surprised and like something. In which case you wont have to wait until April Hope you find something, Quote Link to post

Got my new T3 Hunter with the shorter threaded barrel a few months back, been pretty happy all round, it all fell in to place and balanced much better than my T3 Lite. Not tried that much ammo in it, and it depends on what you really want to do with it to, PRVI 90g SP and 100g SP is perfectly adequate for me, and Sako is fine. I need to try a few more for cost and performance. We all want accuracy, and terminal effect is important, so it will probably be a bit of trial and error!! Quote Link to post

bignoel 14
no special reason for the tikka just like the look and feel of the gun .did look at a remmington with a short barrel was very nice and compacted with mod but secound hand and not sure of how many rounds been throu it £275 compaired to the tikka £750 i have a good set of glass PA 6-24x50 i got on great with on my 222 i know trial and error it may not suit the 243 . i am foxyjohn jnr case already about reloading .my pal payed £49. for 20 rounds of 75gr i think it was from fultons bisley ? Mr_Logic 5
What make is your scope? 243 kicks a bit harder than 222, so might affect it. Other thing, 24 mag is so big I doubt you'd use it on deer, but each to their own. Have you considered CZ or Howa? Both are much cheaper than the Tikka and will serve you well. That said, the T3 is a very good gun, I am just of the opinion that GMK are taking the piss and don't deserve the business. The T3 is already far more cost than its competitors, and when you do want to buy one, they haven't bothered to buy enough so you can. Other importers, for Howa, Remington and CZ, are nowhere near as bad. (although Edgars are not what they used to be ) Their rifles are cheaper and work as well, so for my personal preference I go elsewhere. If Tikka was cheaper and I could buy one easily, then cool Also, are you prepared to think of the T3 Lite at all? I know where there's one where a deal can be done... Quote Link to post

Fultons tend to charge list on everything and often add a bit on top, BUT what on earth ammo cost £49. for 20??? Quote Link to post

I'd go alone with much of this..GMK are a shower, I had massive grief getting both my T3 Lite and T3 Hunter, they are not cheap but not outrageously priced either. I have considered Remington all along and my latest is a 700SPS Stainless, too early to make a proper comparison but for a dedicated Tikka owner I have now bought a Remington.... now don't get me wrong, I am not going off Tikka, but there are others out there worth looking at!! Interesting to note if you already have the press and cases, I can buy dies and primers for £55-£60. If you already load something which uses large rifle primers, the dies are £35-odd (can't remember but it wasn't quite 40 quid). So roughly the same as ONE box of ammo from them. While normal people charge less, it still hammers home how much you can save! Quote Link to post
bignoel 14
going to look at a keepers tikka t3 m95 today doubt if i will buy it as keepers tend to blow a lot throu them also he has stained it black ? not sure of age he asking £350 for it but my mate set the veiwing up so a look wont hurt but i have my eye on the remington looks clean good bore and cheap like the budgie. the scope has no name on it apart from PA but used it with out any problems .but may go back to a x40 for the 243 and leave the PA it on the 222.
