GameBirdMeg 21
My boyfriend has gone ferreting in Camarthen the bushing terrier has gone down a badger hole about three hours ago and has not come back out. He cant hear anything whats the best thing for him to do? Please HELP... Here's a reply froma member from a previous thread: i was trying to make the point what would you do if you whr a pet terrier owner and not a member of a hunting website the natural instict of a terrier is to hunt vermin above and below ground even more so in ones bred from working stock -- the law would be sympathtic in such cases - your first port of call would be the land owner , if you whr on owned land - thr could be an issue with trespass for example if the terrier had strayed onto farmland . you`d have to find whr the dog had gone to ground ,then you would have to identify what kind of earth the dog had gone to ground in even if a terrier had gone to ground accidentley in a badger sett you would`nt get a licsence to interfere with the sett for 48hrs and all digging work would be under the supervision of the rspca likewise if it was a fox earth and you`d end up paying for thr time if you got in touch with the police they would refer you to the rspca thr could be a question of dogs not under proper control which could lead to proscution from the rspca .. the average pet terrier owner would`nt know whr to start (rush off home and check the internet ) -- believe it or not thr are experts in this field its called the fell and moorland working terrier club (google it ) thr members help to rescue terriers lost to ground - i took part in a rescue a few years ago whr a pet jack russell had gone to ground 7 hrs after the dog had gone to ground we dug her out - who called us in the rspca they did`nt have a clue whr to start . your average pet owner would`nt be using a locator either and all this assueming they tried all they could to coax the dog out
Malt 379
I've got to agree with the above. Is it deffo a Badger hole? If so you're pretty limited as to what you can do, or should I say be seen to do.
Guest SJM
I was going to suggest the FMWTC, they seem to have a good rep for helping out when terriers get stuck to ground
