out lamping tonight

Recommended Posts

well after playing with the rifle for a couple of days shooting at targets at different distances , i thought i would go out tonight and try on live quarry , so i phoned my cousin asking if he and our other lamping partner wanted a ride out and the answer was yes, we made a time of 8.30 for me to be picked up .

they arived on time and off we set, we was out about a hour and seen nothing and it was getting colder ,i said lets have a ride over to the big wood , so off we went, as we were driving up to the wood we spotted a set of eyes at the end of it , so we drove up slowly but it had moved back into the wood by the time we got level, we swithed off and had a call, we then picked a set of eyes up to the left of the wood it looked away then started to trot off , i gave a whistle and it stopped and turned side ways on to us .

by this time i was out on the bonnet of the disco ready, i pulled onto him then pulled the trigger, i see him drop before i herd the bang then the lads said nice shot, i put the rifle back in the disco and set off to pick him up counting the yards as i went, when i got to him he was 194 yards from the truck so i was very happy , i know its not that far, but i have had a confidance knock latley with the rifle because its a new rifle and i have been using the wrong amo, so to me i thought i done ok, when i got back to the truck the lads wanted to call it a night so we drove back to my house lamping on the way without seing anything

what did you hit that with? Worked well :)

i was using remi acu tips 75gr , but i had a bad experience with them, and i lost alot of confidence with me shooting the rifle , so i have now gone onto norma 58gr with the help of SOUNDER and SPORTING SHOOTER .

i spent 2 days shooting at targets at different distances , then finally went out last night and had a shot at live quarry , with the end result being good as you can see ..

i know what you mean, i went from a 22.250 to a 243 and i struggeld at first with the ammo and missed 3 foxes on the trot, but thanks to SOUNDER and SPORTING SHOOTER ,they helped me sort my ammo out when they stayed for a few days break with me .

now after alot of practise at longer targets and about £120 worth of amo , i hope i am sorted

Those Norma 58gr, they sure are messy, I have seen many foxes looking, shall we say, the worse for wear, after an encounter with them! Good shooting anyway, glad to hear they're working for you.

What are they? 58gr? fmj? bt's or what , looks like they turned him inside out!!

58Gr Ballistic Tips, I can't remember if they are V-max or Nosler BT bullets off hand.
