Squirrel_Basher 17,102
On recent lamping trips i have missed four foxes that were in my opinion dead but didnt know it .One of the trips was with a keeper on some new land and i missed two .Very embarrassing when your there for contol purposes .Ive shot some good distances recently and so was very confident in my set up .But now its back to the start checking everthing through .I clean after every ten rounds .It is a tikka t3 with 100 grain winchesters .By the way its now shooting 5 inches low and 2 to the left but why? . Take it to basics mate, check allen screws on scope turrets bases and rings, if no joy there check to see if barrel is still free floating, check bi-pods locked tight, what about a good Anti fouling routine, copper wise, etc. i have been a bundle of nerves when shooting with someone new and missed at 70 yards more than once mind so good luck check the basics and you will find something.... FOXHUNTER 5,021
Stop cleaning it mate If its shooting straight to start with I am of the opinion leave the barrel dirty,it works for me .Very embarrassing for you mate in front of the keeper but hey we all miss !! I take it youve checked that your mounts are secure etc ................ Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
Assuming it is still grouping well...all be it, 5 inches low and 2 to the left I can only suggest a zero shift: loose bolts, stuffed crown, damaged moderator would tend to produce shotgun groups! Is the scope ok..has it had a knock?? Quote Link to post
Squirrel_Basher 17,102
May have found it .The plastic screw in grommet which fits into the t8 and sleeves the barrel was loose .Would this throw shot wild? How do i prevent this again ?Its caused a bright area on the barrel so was obviously vibrating . Edited January 19, 2009 by foxdropper Quote Link to post

FOXHUNTER 5,021
Anything loose will affect the zero mate . Just tighten it and regularly check it , Ive never known mine to come loose . Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
sounds like you got the problem mate, Quote Link to post
endasmail 0
not to rain on your parade lad, but ive a t3 tactical and that plastic bung shoundnt be interfering with your shot placement ,as the lads said check everything again ,back to basics and head out to the range with a few boxes.maybe change the ammo ,could be a problem with t8 the baffles could be rubbing off the bullets on the way out Quote Link to post

I hope you've found it mate, but,as you can shoot it with the spacer removed altogether I'm not sure.Have you had it out on a target yet 'FD',and if you have did it actually group or not.Have you tried the old £20.00 note down under the barrel to see if it is still floating.Don't forget you had that fall the other week, that might of done something to the scope........just a thought mate. We all await the answer mate, but, more seriously don't let it get to you,cos that could make it worse.....martin. p.s. I will arrange a driven silverfish hunt for the weekend if you think you can work it out by then mate. Quote Link to post
