Brimmer 220
Seen what we thought was this, quite a few years ago now. Going about the normal business of ferreting, getting pinpoints on the locater, digging and finding what looked like normal healthy rabbits dead underground. Only found a few to be honest, it could have been something else, but never seen it before, and never seen it since. The live rabbits were still there if it was this, and if it had an effect it was only minimal at the time. Quote Link to post

kinderbeano 13
thanks guys(and girls).ye iv been talking to people around my area about what they think has the number of rabbits so low this year and this 'chinese hemmeraging' or R.H.D keeps coming up.like brimmer says people have found rabbits dead without a scratch on them or any sighn of mixi atall..if this is what effecting them then its hit hard because wev never seen such a scarcity of rabbits before.best bag i'v had this year is 2.the wet summer has probably effected them too but we hav had summers weter than this and rabbits still bred well.i jst cant get my head round it.. im in S.E ireland by the way. Ginette 0
I've heard it spreads like wild fire. Got a friend with an animal sanctuary and while they were down south someone came on the property carrying it and next day 30 rabbits dead or dying. The vet said R.H.D and that your boots/animals will spread it, supposedley. What a waste of good rabbit, they had to be incinerated! Quote Link to post
The one 8,598
Aye I'd heard it was a hot disease and could be carried on clothing etc and its better than myxi for killing rabbits as far fewer survive Quote Link to post
