old dog 210
Usually have a good day boxing day plenty of furry friends about and today was no different, finding their first one straight away, we were hunting a big piece of common land owned by a number of farmers mostly gorse and marsh hounds running a full circle before he was accounted for by the guns, there was alot of people out with us today(its christmas)the boy's saying on the cb's that another two furry friends had gone away in a different direction, hounds were pulled out and we headed off down the valley it was'nt long before they found again chasing him around a fern bank where they put him to ground,a terrier was entered this place proved to be a difficult place with the tubes being so narrow the little terrier had her work cut out,but out he pop'ed into the bramble with hounds on his tail crossing a farm lane down over another bank and out over the fields with hounds close to him, they had travelled about 2 miles away from where they had started, when our furry friend makes a mistake on some new fencing and the lead hounds pull him down,he won't be taking any more pheasants. hounds were put back into the valley to draw the rest finding one but this one was'nt hanging around running the fields above where gareth's lurchers accounted for him,we drew a large area after finding nothing, then tinker one of my fell bitches started to speak behind the farmhouse rising a big furry friend,we had a hell of a hunt he crossed a river twice running through another farmyard crossing out over the road and running through two fields full of sheep, hounds done well until they hit the fields with sheep in,they had two long checks which aloud our frend to make his escape fairplay to him,he had an old head on him he knew where to go,anyway back to the pub for some cawl and a pint happy new year to you all.
