CZ452 varmint .17hmr.

I'm new to shooting, got a cz452 for £280 and brought scope, sling, etc. must say that for £280 i diddn't expect what i got..

spot on out to 200yds, easy to clean, easy to use, easy and cheap to upgrade trigger, shame the ammo is sooooo much!!

However i understand the saying, get what you pay for, but for this money - i can't go wrong...

Sako quad has big advantages, i seriously looked into it - so should you ;)

Good luck.

Help me out chap, I am very curious after your comments......what were these BIG ADVANTAGES, of the Quad?? ..on the basis you paid £280 for the CZ and rate it...spot on out to 200yds, easy to clean, easy to use, easy and cheap to upgrade trigger

Cheers

if your new to shooting (or like the flexibilty) and don't really know the pro's and con's of each caliber, the quad offers the flexability of changing parts rather than the whole rifle to shoot different caliper rounds, .22RF, .22WMR, .17HMR and .17 Mach2

Didn't say the best or in any way better than any other rifle, the above point is advantageous - do you agree?

;)

Each to their own but this is simply a bi-product of the production system (which the Marketing people have got to work on) and several centrefire rifles also offer this facility!

According to Sako/GMK the vast majority of Quads are sold as complete guns and the majority of those are HMR!

Problems with this system are .....

1 Cost Involved

2 Barrel availability..or more specifically the lack of it

3 Scope Zero

4 Only ever one rifle so impossible to let your lad or pal use "the other one"

5 Can't mix light and heavy barrels on the same stock.

6 A problem with 1 action/stock/butt/anything but the barrel, means you have NO rifles

7 Everything else I have forgotten

But...and strange though it may seem after that they are ok, but I view them as a complete rifle...not an assortment of barrels...but personally I do not consider that adds up to .... Sako quad has big advantages!!

Just my opinion!!

yes i remember when i was first thinking of gettin the sako quad i wasted my feckin money on that buris quad scope its all jsut a money making scheme , i thought it would be great to have interchangeable barrels and just quickly click over to diffrent zeros but i found the quad scope didnt suit my style for how much magnification i use. now i want to use hmr and .22 for subs and i cant becuase it means changing zeros removing the barrel and so on, so now im on the look out for another action and stock for the .22 barrel. i totally agree with dekers point on it being one rifle one caliber the whole swaping parts really is jsut a pain, then you also need alot more clearence between barrel and scope too give sufficient room to lift up the barrel too remove it.

now the sako certainly looks the part and it works very well for me atleast. but if i were you id jsut get a cz nearly all 17hmr rifles fir sub inch at 100 yards or atleast what i have seen. also the cz you wil pick up for bugger all compared to the quad which was retailing for 475 when i got it. spend the money on the cz then purchase some decent glass etc. plus with the cz you have the choice of nickel plated metal parts which prevent the metal parts from rusting unlike the the sako which is blued and has to have a rub down after every use with a oily rag or thats what i do.

To be fair a lot of the CZ Certrefires are OK-good .........BUT the RIMFIRES offer an excellent selection, excellent performance and excellent VFM!!!

Nothing wrong with the Sako Quad but look carefully through the marketing and make your choice...hell...I ordered a Synthetic Quad HMR earlier this year but you will never believe it, GMK had no stock...time passed and the CZ Silhouette in HMR arrived in the UK...the rest is history as they say....!!

i had one of the first cz americans in ireland, it was that new the firearms dept. in dublin rang me to see what it was twice, it took me over a year to get the licence for it due to this fact.

there were no aftermarket parts to be had and ammo was as scarce as hens teeth.

the accuracy was good but the trigger a little heavy so i got a mate to lighten it with a little filing and polishing, and its not bad now,

I noticed a few flyers now and again and had plenty of experience with centrefire rifles i checked to see if the bull barrel was free floating which it was

well just about very hard to notice but on the righthand side of the fore-end there was a little bit of stock slightly touching the barrel.

took the stock off sanded the little hump down with a scoket wrapped in a little bit of sandpaper and varnished over it to seal it up again,

groups shrank and i even shot 1/4 inch at 100 yards on a very calm day once....... :o

for the money and the accuracy, as well as aftermarket parts now..........the cz would be my recommendation, for the money nothing comes close to it....

snap.

You cannot buy direct from Edgar Bros..you will see that on their website ..but you will also see their dealers listed as well!!

Unless you are of Olympic standard I doubt you will notice any difference in performance of 16 or 20 inch barrels!

Nevilles are my local gun shop, sound.

Not decrying any other .17 but take a look at the Savage MK11, can't remember the exact model, but google for test reviews, they are brilliant. Bought my laminated thumbhole stocked all stainless from Nevilles, paid exactly £450, they were asking £490.

Only test shot/run in/zeroed so far but boy the gun feels superb.

Have tried Savage guns before and did not like them, this ones different. Also the Ruger 77/17 will no doubt be a cracker, if a little expensive if the 77/22 I own is anything to go by
