J Darcy 5,871
Had a walk on saturday with the airgun. it was windy and i saw very little. Scoob and i saw an injured duck, probably left over from the shooting season and i decided to kill it to put it out of its misery. This duck was feeding in the corner of a pond that is a favourite area for newts, so i guess he was feeding on them. Scoob picked it out of the margins and brought it right back to hand. Result... spotted a woodie on its nest. one of the earliest i have seen them on eggs. of course, i left the hen alone. scoob then came to point in some brambles. there are no rabbits here so i didnt know what it could be. fox?pheasant?....but when i sent him in to flush whatever out he found this prickly creature... the first hedgepig i have seen this year, and good luck to it.
