Went to farm i do early this evening where fox control is as important as feeding the stock .Phoned around for mates to join me but they all had excuses  so i tried a lad that had been wanting to go out for a while and who talked a good night out by what hes shot in the past ;) .He was up for it so we met at the farm entrance .Lamped the usual spots but nothing and fog was gradually decending on us .I decided on a squeak by the hen houses and chose a spot by a hedge that borders a tarmac lane .Part way through the calling ,as i paused for breath,i heard the click of a claw on the lane behind us and knew exactly what it was .I motioned to my lamper to move out into the feild ,a thing he didnt really understand and i whispered it to him when we were in the middle .He still ddnt follow but i took the lamp and picked out an eye in the hedge .Sqeaked again and gave the lamp back .Charlie tried to push through the sheep netting but pulled back and ran up the road to the gate where he came flying in under the bottem rail .I could see a car coming down the lane so didnt ready for a shot ,and it slowed down to see what we were doing i suppose .Charlie became uneasy and looked nervously over his shoulder at the car .He decided enough was enough and ran down the hedge and away .The car stopped and it was the farmer who's chicken we are here to protect !

Had the crack and moved on to the lower fields but the fog beat us there .Came back to the same field and i squeaked again and low and behold a fox appeared down the far end where the last one went .Squeaked a bit softer this time and he came trotting up to about 70 yds .Shot him and we both agreed it was the same fox as before .The fog rolled in thicker as we walked back to the truck and we both agreed it was one unlucky fox .
