iv got the choice of 22-250....hmr or 22lr i have taken rabbits at 200yards on a fairly regular basis would of thought the adverage is 160..i couldnt afford to take many with 22-250 so my hmr gets used alot...im thinking quite seriously about wmr aswell..........you'll NEVER convince me about the hornet though!!!!!!!

What is your HMR zeroed at....!

I can understand why you don't want to use the 22-250 on bunnies....My .223 can deal with them easily at range (200 yard zeroed) and with Factory Wolf 55g HP available for 18p per bang it is cheaper than HMR and WMR. I can also get PRVI softpoint for the .223/.243/.308 for £35-£40 per 100 which all perform very adequately! All land and shooting requirements are different, but no question, my 223 will produce far more accurate shots overall at 200 than will a HMR, but frankly I only have cause to consider this sort of range for bunnies on a handful of my bits of land, most are far closer!

The WMR is FAR better for the fox as well than HMR.

I had forgotten how good the WMR feels having not used one for years but when a recent opportunity developed I jumped at one. Watch out for my HMR in the "For Sale" section soon!

...and I'll leave the Hornet crusade to others!!!!

Hi Deker, i agree with you ;) i also think the .22WMR is far in front of the .17HMR because of all the reasons you have given, i used a .17 for about 18 months, found it very good on rabbits, but a bit dodgy for fox :o got rid and got myself a hornet K :) Havent used the WMR on live quarry but a guy uses one at the rifle range, very impressive hitting power and accuracy at 100 & 200 yards when zeroed, he uses it on rabbits regularly and has also taken the odd fox recons its a great little tool for mooching about :clapper: Not sure what make it is, but it is self loading and great fun to use,

PS -- Dont give up on the hornet, AND YOU MR L.. :icon_redface::icon_redface:

im now seariosly thinking about applaying for a FAC for a 22WMR. Now i know this is an FAC related quistion but would hearing protection be a good cause for a mod?

thanks lads.

all the best

It certainly is these days...a few years ago you would not have had a chance, but just shout Health & Safety these days and and the odds are you will get it!!

Had a CZ WMR for years now, ammos not a problem its a great gun. My friend does fantastic things with his hmr though these have yet to be witnessed, I like mine, wouldn't sell it and it only cost £100 at auction. Brilliant yet underestimated piece off kit. CCI 40gns around £13 for 50
