andy s410c 62
Interesting way of doing it Brimmer. I suppose if its all shallow digs, then why not, seems to work for you anyhow.. I think woodga on here just uses hobs aswell. Frank. We will still use nets in tricky areas, and longnets on big open warrens, but mostly it's 3 -12 holers, and a couple of bunny's at most. It's pretty shallow most of the time, so a quick flash with the spade and it's done. It also gets the dogs a bit keener on marking up if they get a run for there troubles of marking up. Came unstuck on this one though! How not to do it! Idiot with a spade alert! You digging for oil there B  Quote Link to post
Brimmer 220
That's my worst dig ever on that land in 16 years. lucky the weather was fine! (no oil though, or Australia!) Quote Link to post
The one 8,585
Aye that look's like it was some dig Quote Link to post
Tyla 3,179
i reckon it all depends on your ground. i usually work jills as i want bolters and dont want to dig as most of the burys we work go off the scale on the mark 3. Much though i love my ferreting i wouldnt want to be digging 14 foot holes under hedges for every rabbit and im sure the land owner wouldnt like it either. Thats what i like about these forums, the chance to see how its done differently by other people. Happy hunting! Quote Link to post
Guest Mass_G3nocide
I mostly use jills unless they play up and start showing off and wont work most of the time they are fine but when i walk over 3 miles and they dont want to work it takes the piss Nice pics... Quote Link to post

Suppose i'm lucky really, don't have too many deep one's. Oh by the way, i filled it back in, never to be dug again! Quote Link to post

Oh by the way, i filled it back in, never to be dug again! it always amazes me how deep some of them go. im talking 10 - 20 hole burys in hedges 1.5m wide by 3-5m long and they spend most of their time so deep i cant even detect them! i was told the deeper the bury the older it is but dont know if its true, if it is these hedges must be ancient!
