victor 10
well every one, im going to try and make it as simple as possibal. I dont want another running dog. im very happy with the one i have at the moment. i wouldnt mind a terrier but am not going to get one as just becauswell i liek them them and love working them but i just dont think thay are me lol... . ive been half offred a staffy (and when i say half is i can buy it but her son might want it back, but hasnt wanted them for 2 years) . i was thinking that this staffy and cooper (my whippetxgrey) would make a alright fox team. because staffy's have like lock jaw and are very fgood holders, but my dog has the speed but not the law power to finnish one. but WILL hold it for a while ( atleast untill a staffy can catch up). Cooper catches the fox and the staffy comes along a few seconds arfter and holds on and/or kills it or i come im and finnish the job. what are your views on this sort of a team would it be a wise be a wise mkove to take or should learn to run faster?? victor Edited November 24, 2008 by victor Quote Link to post
whin 463
victor ya ragde get a dug that can dae the job no a pack o mungies one dug one fox mate its no lions your killing if foxes is your game get a dog bred for foxes not a puny whipp and a fat staffy , lock jaw uve been reading to much lock jaw is when you dont get a tenus i thought, get a dog thta does the job mate or bred to do it , some whipps can do it but mostlythe bigger males and some staffys if lite enough are decent ,but horses for courses Quote Link to post
victor 10
ok i didnt realy understand most of that, but my whippetxgrey has held onto foxes a few times before and raged the shit out of them when denning. it's his jaw power and this staffy is a fast one. 5 / 10 rabbits it will catch. so it is a farily fast staffy. and i already said im NOT interested in getting another running dog as there is no point if this team works out. victor 10
oh and to add, my whippetxgrey has only seen about 3 foxes and each time had a good fight with them. also only lost oen fight when it was only me and him. Quote Link to post

whin 463
i like this team thing to kill a 15 pound fox , the foxes must be big over your way or the ground rough as hell a whippet is fast enough but not strong enough to pull fox after fox and he maybe take a sickner if getting smashed , r u a school kid or just inexpierenced and just learning or clueless about the running dog game Quote Link to post

chartpolski 27,351
Any amount of Stags/Roo Dogs in Vic that take foxes for fun, so why bother with a Staffy ?? Doesn't make sense to me ! Cheers. Quote Link to post
victor 10
why bother?? i dont want another running dog. i want a smaller dog with alot of grunt. and a staffy would be good.. if i wanted a stag hound i know breeders. but i dont. so yeah. im only looking for peopel to say that it is either a big mistake because of some reason with proof. or just some pointers or something.
