McSparkie 0
Spotted him and his mum a couple of days ago. So last night I went out down the other side of the field and headed back up quiet style. His mum disappeared at the first flicker of the lamp, but this one just sat there. I was only out for 20 minutes. The horses at the other end of the field started paying attention and ambled up to see what I was doing so I decided to call it a night. Poor wee guy was covered with fleas too. Well he was tucked up in the freezer by 9pm, but his hide is going to be a lure for some crows, magpies and rooks later on today. I've been trying out these new Daystate Rangemaster High Energy slugs and have found them to be a lot more acurate than the AA Fields, but most amazing is that the first slug hit matey just below his skull taking him straight through the throat. As he didn't go down immediately, I hit him again - this time in the chest. When I cleaned him I saw the first one had gone straight through, but the second one had stopped just as it was on it's way out again (between ribs and skin), having taken out his heart and a lung. The pellet isn't deformed at all! I'll get some better pictures of it and post soon. Quote Link to post
victor 10
top shooting mate good luck with the birds too Quote Link to post
McSparkie 0
A bit gorey, but you can see how little the slug has deformed. Just for the record - I don't usually keep the used slugs  Quote Link to post
victor 10
that pellet doesnt look so bad. a little scratched n a tiny bent, but you could use it again (not recomended) Quote Link to post

McSparkie 0
The slugs are expensive and are supposed to get even worse Here Yup it's a CO2. Don't get all excited about the bad press they get at lower temeratures, it's still a killer and I haven't seen any real drop in pressure. You do see a cloud puff as you fire when it gets down to about zero, but other than that, nada! When you are running out (I get about 200~250 rounds down) the drop-off is quite marked. There was frost on the ground when I took this guy out at about 25 meters Quote Link to post
