danebrewer10 6
Hi there all, I'm new on this forum, I got a question for y'all! if you've got a factory rifle that isn't bedded, and you take the action out of the stock to clean it say if it's been raining and you have a blued steel action and barrel and you put it back, and tighten the screws to the same tension that they were to start with, will the POI change? assuming that the barrel is free floated, (specifically looking at the tikka T3) Cheers Dane Just messin' around with the smileys! I wouldn't have thought so. Someone correct me, but with a free floating barrel, as long as a gap exists between the barrel and stock after re-fitting, there won't be any problems with your zero. Yokel Matt 918
I would say almost certainly, all be it maybe by only a fraction but that could be all it takes at distance to properly foul a shot and have a knightmare follow up ahead of you. I certainly wouldn't put it to chance if shooting live quarry. Quote Link to post
Mr Adventure 0
I have a T3 varminter. I take my stock off after its been out in the rain (2 screws) to clean the trigger parts and chamber, scope zero is never afected. How could you zero change only way it will change is if you move your scope on the action. There is no bedding blocks in this rifle but the action to stock fit on a synthetic stocked Tikka is very tight. Hope this helps Quote Link to post
Deker 3,491
OK ...the answer is almost guaranteed to be yes! Wooden stock more likely than synthetic, but any time you do this you need to check the zero, but it should be very close if you have done everything right!! I have a T3 Lite (Synthetic) & T3 Hunter (Chipboard by the looks of it ) and never had any shocks after strip and rebuild!! Edited November 18, 2008 by Deker Quote Link to post
