SportingShooter 0
.50 BMG, Barrett is the Maker then what do you call a .416 barret You call it a .416 Barrett. In this case the .416 Barrett is the name of the round. .50 cal Barrett is not the name of the round. It is .50 BMG (Browning Machine Gun). SS Think I must have missed something here.... See ..even old dogs like me learn...NEVER heard of the .416 Barret round but there most certainly is a .5 Barrett round!!! https://www.barrettrifles.com/store/web/p-9...-80rd-case.aspx Thats still showing as a .50 BMG Deker? SportingShooter 0
OK, time for a clearup I think before I go deranged with confusion. As I'm sure we know, there is a difference between the maker or inventor of the round and the manufacturer who chambers their rifles in those rounds. .50 BMG was not invented or developed by Barrett it was developed and designed by John Moses Browning for his Machine gun before WW1. Barrett are one, if not the, most prominent maker of rifles chambered in .50 BMG. But thats it, they just chamber their rifles for it. The .416 Barrett was developed and created by Barrett and so is known as the .416 Barrett. So in this case, they have both invented the round and chamber rifles in it. I can find no record of a round called the .50 Barrett anywhere. And I was sure that it didn't exist before I started. The have created a round called the .510 DTC Europ but hardly close is it.
