Bat stew, fruit bat stew anyway,is actually quite nice, though the large ticks on some of the corpses was quite off-putting at first

Stayed on an island off Sri Lanka few years back and had fruit bats living in the tree outside the bedroom window, didnt half put the willys up the mrs ( the bats that is ). Also got conversing with an old guy who lived in a hut on the beach and by the universal language of hand signal and grunts got him and his mates to take me fishhing up the river in his cobbled together canoe. Saw the biggest comodo dragon in my life :icon_eek:

Monitor, yes that was the word i was searching for, really big guy who lived under a fallen tree. Great time was that, the old guy living on the beach had a huge great scar running down his back, looked like a machette chop. Didnt catch many fish and he had a baby croc living in his boat

Did a lot of the tourist stuff, Columbo and Kandy but i always wondered what happened to the old lad when Tsunami struck :(

He probably died :cry: I have a good friend in Galle with an excellent house, his servants feted me like a king, great place, did you catch any fish over there?

Only caught small stuff and a smallish Baramundi. I was using a fly outfit with big streamer patterns as it was a big river but quickly moved onto small prawn livebait supplied by a guy who paddled up in a small canoo. Just happy to catch to be honest and take in the surroundings
