mattydski 560
The best thing to do IMHO is to find someone from here that will take you out and show you the ropes, better for you, better for the ferrets. Best of luck and welcome to a very rewarding sport. Matt Quote Link to post
scothunter 12,609
I would have a look around and look out for Rabbit burrows. Then find out who owns the land and ask if you could have permission to ferret.Or dont ask and just dont get caught. As if they will work. All ferrets will work a burrow to a degree. The more they are worked the better they become.Very inquisitive animals by nature.Whay is best?IMO jills everytime, although having said that i have an old poley who is brillaint.Well hope you dont get downhearted if you dont get them out staright away, its not easy aquireing permission. As my friend matt said maybe someone near you will take you out. Were not all misreable b*****ds on here lmao Quote Link to post
Halfinch 51
Ferret box,Locator, spade,Permission, Knowledge. Once you get them you should be all set. The first three, are easy enough to acquire, the Permission may be a little harder, but if you try hard enough, you should be able to pick up some somewhere, and the Knowledge will come through time and experience, Like others have said, if you can find someone local to you that will be willing to take you with them the experience will be invaluable.. Hob or Jill? Well i have a hob, that is a fantastic worker, but a lot of people like the Jill's because they tend to be quicker in the burrows, Horses for courses really, you'll find which ones work better when you try them a few times. Good luck with your ferreting, enjoy it, and be patent. Quote Link to post
