Which .243??? Any price!!!

Recommended Posts

I'm pretty happy with my new rifle in 25-06, could be done in 243

Zoli Alpen rifle, nice wood stock, full engravings of boar deer and a stag on magazine plate, they do a superlux too which is flasher but couldnt justify the money and its a little gay for throwing in the ute :) I would wreck it

S&B 3-12 x 50 scope

Nearly needed the lottery for it!

Smooth as silk and Shoots brilliant too.

Just got a few things done to it before they sent it but, trigger etc!!

dont be enthralled, to much, by the word custom, hand made etc, i worked as a chief rifle regulator for quite a famous maker!

and to be honest some of the hand built stuff i worked on were real pigs!

and took a lot of hours to make them shoot?

over the years i found a lot of the factory rifles, with the right load would shoot very well.

apart from the quality of stocks, barrels, engraving etc on custom guns, they still go bang!

once had a medium barelled sako, 53grn win factory ammo would take your eye out at 400

sold it ? realy sensible ? doh :icon_eek: oh well got another one :D

Assume you were to win the lotery and cash was not a major issue.

What make and model .243 would you buy for fox/deer and what glass would you put on it!

This is mostly for a bit of fun, but also I am about to request .243 for my certificate and would like to buy something a 'bit special'.

Cheers CBW

I've got a sauer 202 in .243 really nice gun to use really smooth bolt action(butter knife type) detatchable mag, really nice walnut stock with rosewood, got a swarvoski 6-24-50 scope on top with apel swingoff mounts!! all that set me back around 2500 but it really is worth it!!! will add pics later if you want to see??

I`ll put things into perspective for you Prattski :D You cant fit a custom trigger into a sauer now can thee.. You also cannot adjust a Sauer trigger like most other guns either.

Because you cannot apply the safty catch correctly ;)

Oh and try having a Border Barrell fitted to your sauer when it`s blown out :tongue2:

'Pratski' ? At what point did i insult you, i gave my opinion. You gave yours end of.

Thats the beauty of an internet forum, lots of people with different views.

Well you have the old model Matt. They improved it by changing the design of the action and the reason behind it was that the bases which are held in place by two 4mm steel screws were prone to stripping out. Hence the scopes falling off or losing zero.

An easy but expensive remedy is to have them re tapped with larger screws but the same depth. In short an accident waiting to happen resulting in a new action needed.

Not something that you`d want in a foxing stalking come fecking about gun now is it??

I`ll not mention the flexible fore end on the stock or that Mcmillan dont offer any custom stock for any sauer model :D

Now do you want to know why i don't own one any more :tongue2:

I`d rather have a Howa than a Sauer

Well thanks for the Heads up, went it stops killing what i point it at, I will take action.

But it amazes me that people judge a rifle on whether they can replace every bit with a custom part.

I bought the rifle because , I like the trigger. I have tried many others, but prefer mine.. Never had any problems with the safety catch, and the bases are tight, and have been since i bought it.

I have no intention of putting any custom parts on the rifle because when i point it at the animal i wish to kill, it dies. Therefore it does what i need.

But you have obviously had a bad experience with yours, as i am sure most brands will have had at some time. The user asking for opinions i am sure, will weigh all the views up both positive and negative for all brands suggested and make his own choice.

As allready said lots of people lots of views.

:victory:
