ade33uk 86
you can pick it off the floor because you are on top of it , you got more room to manouver , and you feel confident when its quiet . when its in the cage you are most probably right in its face , you are bigger than it and it doesnt know you properly yet , its scared of you so it plays up, you lose confidence and try and snatch at it or pull your hand away when it snaps at you scaring it even more . Just take your time with it and be confident handling it . im sure it will be fine . Quote Link to post

Fat-Ferret 857
The best advice I got for this was to put the back of your hand towards them and let them pick up your scent first, then pick them up....It works Quote Link to post

stealthy1 3,964
Spend a bit of time lifting it from the cage and putting it back, its the quickest way to get him used to the routine, otherwise try bribery. Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
Could possibly be because the ferret sees you as invading its territory ie the cage Quote Link to post

Kay 3,709
Let him eat in his cage & when he has had enough then try getting him out, see if he bites once he has eaten Quote Link to post
