riohog 5,939
id say do nothing until 10 months at least mate, my pup wont be doing anything until 11-12 month, but everyones opinions are different but 6 month is far to young in my eyes the bones aint even set. i totally agree 6 months to young 10 to 12 months min Quote Link to post
Guest smashygadge
started my first at 6month mate , ran the arse out off him now im a bit peed of but genuine mistake ,give the dog as much growing time as you can . wouldnt hurt for him to get a grip of a bit of ferreting in the mean time . but certainly best to let them mature a little prior to lamp work good luck Quote Link to post

labsnlurchers 39
ferreting at 8/9 months 1 or 2 runs only and no more than once every couple of weeks. lamp 'practise' from about the same age where rabbits are placed at the end of the beam and the pup is sent up at 6 months i just work on heel, stay, here, commands and the retrieval of a tennis ball and the 'dead' command to tell the pup when to release its grip. lamping starts at about 12/13 months old Quote Link to post
