celticwar 1
is this to worry about or not ......... with all the laws in place .. they say no airgun should be able to go over the legal limit ........... so wheres it end ...????? my own rifle a superten .22 bullbarral carbine from new was 11.2 ,11.5 ftlb aa fields and now has problems spitting pellets out at 9ftlb .so i spoke to bsa , bloke at said B.S.A test there rifles +set them to bisley magnums ............i said well if the law can use any ammo they could use pile drivers they be over the legal limit on every rifle . .so i sent my tin of aa fields , 200 of and my rifle .. said can you set it as high as poss to these .due to i only ever use these ... bloke said bsa will try .. well got it back to day 9.30ftlb power thank you bsa now feel p... off .... so does this mean we all have to use magnums , or baracudas in our rifles to get power back .. ... fly like a banana lol what do you guys think ... what did your guns produce from new ... or if new now check them post your finds Quote Link to post
Deker 3,491
No idea what is actually going on here but the power will not go up from 9.3 to 12ft lb moving from AA field to Bisley Magnum!! Quote Link to post
celticwar 1
i thought the power goes up due to using a heavy pellet deker am i wrong then ????? Quote Link to post
celticwar 1
but main point is it seems the gun companys are setting air rifles very low .. so as a result . theres more risk to your prey not being dispached cleanly ... ie it could be seen as becoming very cruel to what we shoot by the press ... its wrong they should be selling top power air rifles ... last time i looked its our job to check power levels if it goes over we are liable to the law not bsa us due to its our responsability Quote Link to post
celticwar 1
i dont mean to upset any one just suprised and disapointed with bsa ... but seems bsa arnt the only ones doing it Quote Link to post

It take 5ft's of pressure to cleanly crush a rabbit's scull at 30 yard's. Quote Link to post

Chap For all I know it may take 5ft lb of pressure to crush a rabbit skull...never put a rabbit head in a vice 30 yards away to test it.... But at delivery, in the right place with a pointed pellet a rabbit will die with 2.5ft lb baby, and 4.0ft lb adult MAX!!!..but he won't have a crushed skull...just a neat hole!!! Quote Link to post
Fidgety 8
Celtic, have you tried it over the chrono with Bisley magnums? What does it read? Quote Link to post

Guest rexdigger
just changing to either of them pellets wont change the power that much im afraid get it to your local gunshop and get it tuned but the only thing is to tune these guns its expensive because they a regulated and need setting up properly Quote Link to post
