reynardhunter 3
Disaster struck yesterday, I have for weeks now managed to keep my dogs from mangling the cat next door, this cat had always been in the garden driving the dogs wild since the neighbours got it a few weeks ago, anyway i had just washed out the pen and the dogs were just playing around the garden, suddenly i heard that familiar howling & hissing and i knew what to expect when i ran from the shed, my first reaction was to look up at the back windows of next doors to see who had saw what, i figured if i could get the cat off the dogs i could maybe get rid of it on the quiet, i know some of you might think this a bit harsh but as i saw it the cat came into my garden, the dogs didnt go into hers, anyway i could see nobody about so i got the lurcher off the cat which still had some life in it and the terrier ran off with it in its mouth, i quickly penned the lurcher and grabbed the terrier off the cat and penned her as well, just then the cats owner popped his head over the fence! ah f***k this i thought, thats all i need, I started to apologise for the dogs actions and also was checking the cat for signs of life, it was still breathing but i knew it was ****ed, he was very understanding and just said ah what can you do? to sound polite i said lets bring her to a vet, that would be great he said, shit! i thought to myself, i dont need this today! no sooner had i thought those words the dogs started to fight in the pen, i mean really fight! i ran and opened the pen, caught the lurcher by the tail and managed to get her collar and got her to let go, as i dragged her away the terrier kept biting at her head, i had to kick her to keep her off, during this scuffle we ended up outside the pen, the neighbour still watching over the fence too scared to help, the terrier then turned her attentions to the unfortunate cat who was still lying gasping for breath, in a flash i had to pen the lurcher and again get the terrier off the cat, the neighbours face was white and he said nothing, i put the terrier in a shed and by some miracle the cat was still breathing, i put it in a box and again suggested the vet, he insisted on coming with me so we headed off, all the time i was thinking, this f***in cat could survive and cost me a fortune in vet fees i dont mind saying i drove along willing it to die!, luckily the vet was not home and there was an emergency number, i rang this and he directed me to a differen surgery about 6 miles away, the neighbour didnt know where this was but i did, i took the longest route possible, all the time thinking i hope the **nt is dead, when we finally arrived i jumped out and ran to the back of the jeep, i neednt have worried, the cat was nearly stiff, it had obviously died halfway through the journey, thank jesus! i thought to myself, the neighbour just said ah sure we did our best and asked me could i get rid of the carcass i said no problem its the least i can do to make up for your sad loss, somebody later said to me i would not have been obliged to pay for a vet because the cat came into my garden, thats a good point, anyway thats how my bank holiday sunday went Quote Link to post

lurchergrrl 1,441
What a kerfuffle I live in fear of mine getting the neighbours cats - they're a bit of a rough bunch. My kids take turns on "cat patrol" when we're going out - they go outside to scare any potential furry treats out of the garden Quote Link to post
spindolero 1,126
I've had similar, one of the terriers got out, ran up the road into the local farmers house, into the kitchen and gaffed hold of their cat, he then bit the farmer when he tried to prise him off. The cat survived, but lost most of his teeth as the dog had him by the head. the farmer said 'if it's in the field fair play, but bit rich him coming into the kitchen' i have always found it very difficult to break them (terriers) to cats. Adam-RunningDog 1
my lurcher had an incident with a cat even worse it was my best mates cat. well it all started after a t of lamping on my local farm. it was about 8 oclock pitch black on my way back walking i stopped at a mates. i knew my lurcher loves cats so i said come outside for a chat. so there we were outside having a chat there for about half an hour and his mother come out asking whats going on the car ran out and you can only guess what happened next. the cat ran about 40 yards infront of me and my mate by now the lurcher was on her back legs raring to go all i could hear was crack he bloody fancy slip leed snapped the mechanism bloody went on it, next thing lurcher was 100mph up the road on this cats arse his mother screaming no im shouting i told you to keep it in the both ran into someones hedge i was looking on either side could see nothing 2 second later loads of squeeling lurcher comes prancing down someones garden with the cat expecting me to take itff her and reward he by this point the cat didnt put a fight up so i thought ah cat not hurt put it back nice and snug the stupid thing went and bit the lurchers lip thats was the end of it she put it to the floor crunch crunch crunch thats all i could here the mother screaming nooo noo my cat my mate quik ad get it off her. got it off her had the lurcher by the collar at the top of the garden let the cat go next thing she puts i leave go by accident has the cat before it had a chance to get to the botttom of the garden she was mauling it by this time proper wrecking it screams everywhere nabers out down grouling and crunchig cat squeeeling right this time got her off it yer again give the cat five secnd it tryed to get under someones car just as it got to the back bumper the lucher got out of my grip ran 20 yard bang the lurcher had it again this time shacking it like a terrier on a rat really thought it was it mother screamin crying neighbours saying this is madness to scared to go near the dog. Right this time i got the lurcher off and had a really tight grip tryed the lead ound her collar car lying lifeless on the floor dog looking up at me saying let me att him blood everywerre so i kicked the kat softly to see if it was alive then i managed to get up and run away didnt come back for 4 days draging its hind legs up the hill ay took it to the vet a puncherd lung to back legs broken and loads of puncture woonds, i cant emangen what the vet bill was but i wernt paying it because he broke my 500 pound compound bow without paying so i thought f**k it i would take the thing up the woods and shoot it before spending out 600+ on it. well thats me story ha a long one too. Cats who needs them. Quote Link to post
