Guest gaz100604 Posted October 23, 2008 Report Share Posted October 23, 2008 hi guys a mate of mine from work comes in today his 8year old dog has died of parvo.today now his son has built me a box i picked up on saturday the dog came down with symthoms last night and died this morning the dog was not i the box but the box was in the yard, what should i do? my pups are all jabbed up showing no signs of sickness my mate has just told me now . thanks gary Quote Link to post Share on other sites
Guest ooty Posted October 23, 2008 Report Share Posted October 23, 2008 its a waiting game mate,48 hours and your in the clear,ordenary household bleach kills it,i had a simaler thing to it last year,good luck mate its a horrible thing to go through and extreamly contagous,plant mister with bleach everywhere,boots everytime you go in out etc,the bug can live for 7/9months,google it,lots of info,there are cures in America but your not aloud to ship them over cause british vets wouldnt be able to charge you stupid money to keep your pups on a drip,i got mine through force feeding electrolites with a seringe, Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Guest Chip Posted October 23, 2008 Report Share Posted October 23, 2008 (edited) I remember a fella on here called trev years back mention parvo and said he burned down his kennels and didnt keep another dog there for2/ 3 years if thats right. i wouldnt want the box myself,or the lads round my house or me around theres, i also read that jabs are not hundred percent garenteed,im a worrier anyway so its your shout. Guest gaz100604 Posted October 23, 2008 Report Share Posted October 23, 2008 his dog was showing no symptoms when i picked the box up it was brand new just built none of his dogs were in it, the dog displayed symtoms yesterday and died today, im going to wash it down inside and out the whole back yard bowels even up the walls my boots etc, he wont be at mine i wont be at his hopefully that will be the end of it. gnasher16 31,602 Posted October 23, 2008 Report Share Posted October 23, 2008 Every case is different but its worth keeping in mind parvo is an airborn disease....bleach wont do no harm but it might not be enough....id burn anything wood including wooden framed runs/boxes etc...depending what lengths you want to go to,when you think the coast is clear have a soil sample done to be sure....its not cheap but neither is replacing dead pups !...good luck.
