I'm just wondering...

Just thinking about a new tactic for ambushing hoodies. I've got my shot hoodie laid out on a hill, doing nothing in particular :whistling: , I wonder if I was to put a decoy magpie over him, or even two of them would it wind up the other hoodies :hmm: Anything that distracts them gives me another trick up my sleeve.

Anyone ever tried this, or anything similar?

I've tried the old Owl Decoy trick for Crows, ordinary Carrions mind you, not those bulletproof Greys. In any case, didn't work for me.

I find that they stick to their own species, I shoot a Carrion and the Jackdaws bugger off, shoot a Jackdaw and the Carrions bugger off.

I have heard of mirrors being good decoys, a dazzling sort of effect, but they are illegal here.

Be interesting to see what they do with Magpie details, keep us posted John

1981 I believe, the Wildlife and Countryside Act.

No "Dazzling" devices are to be used for pests. I'm not sure whether it specifies Mirrors, I believe it does, but I'll have to check on that.

Yep and a hide and a selection of calls .Pack of sandwiches and a flask.Daybreak is the best time .Set up every and anything you shoot as the more critters on the kill ,the better for luring in a corvid .Good luck mate .
