Home made geese decoys

Recommended Posts

I'd love to hear how you get on. I have tried making them before from chicken wire and paper mache then varnish then paint. I never made enough to try them out.

Look at a bird book for sizes and go slightly larger. There are loads of pictures of these decoys on the net and methods on google

See http://www.fieldandstream.com/article/Gear...elf-Cut-It-Out#

I may try this myself!

i made some a few years back out of fibre glass ,it took me a while to do them but they looked good ,i even made the necks removeable , i left in the van one morning when out for a flight on the marsh, when i got back someone had broken into the van and taken them along with other stuff,i never thought anymore about them, but you have got me thinking about making some more .

I made some 15-16yrs ago out of ply & fitted a metal spike to the bottom approx 5" long & painted them with matt paint they worked ok plus I've still got them after all these years. I tend use windsock & shell decoys now that I got from the US drinks:
