J Darcy 5,871
Spent another great evening at the riverside. For the first couple of hours little stired save for the moo-cows behind me and kingfishers whizzing by at a rate of knots. As the shadows lengthened i was amazed to watch a large bat(cannot be more specific) actually following in the wake of a Tawney Owl!!! And then was fortunate to watch a female "Angle Shades" moth depositing her eggs on an adjacent nettle. She was most beautiful. One rod was out on peppered spam, the other was about a rod length or two out on Monster Crab boilies over a bed of pellet and crushed boilie. The sky was clear and several shooting stars kept me entertained as i drank coffee and waited for action. Thankfully at about 8 o'clock the rod whipped round, Monster Crab and after a heated tussle i landed the smallest Barbel i had had off that stretch, a gloriously pristine fish of 5lb 3 oz. Not a monster........but i dont care.....JD Quote Link to post
