picardy 1 Posted September 13, 2008 Report Share Posted September 13, 2008 Hi got a bit of a problem starting with my 14 month old lurcher bitch shes starting to catch well on the lamp but if one gets to a hedge shes reluctant to come straight back and hunts up a little which as you know is annoying to say the least! Whats the best method to get her out of this kind of put it down to her 100% dettermantion but need to curb this before it gets to bad.Many thanks happy hunting fight the ban Quote Link to post

What I would do get the dog out at night and doing training rather than lamping, just recalls, and heel work. If the dog runs a rabbit and hunts up, turn the light off, give the recall, if the dog continues to hunt up, walk off out of the field, and head for the car. The dog will come back to you. Then go straight home. It wont take the dog long to realise that hunting up means the end of the night. Best thing though is get the recall 100% anywhere, night or day. Good luck Quote Link to post

Good luck Hi thanks for the reply generally her recal whilst out training and exersize is very good this is whats so frustrating.Will do what you suggested and try her recall out at night without hunting rabbits.
