Sgt.McMuffin 0
Hello, can anyone give me a quick low down/tips and what i'll need for some basic night hunting or lamping as its commonly known. I gatherd that i'll need a good torch, warm clothes and my trusty gun, but i'm sure its alot harder than that. Cheers, Sarge. Quote Link to post

Its not really..torch maybe but a lamping kit would probably be better, no need to spend a fortune though, get some experience first then decide what you feel would benefit you! Not a good idea to go lamping on new ground, get used to the land in daytime first! Don't shoot at eyes, be very confident of your target/backstop before you pull the trigger! Letting someone know where you are going is often recommended to! Distances are harder to judge at night so beware! Plus all the bits that others will add.... Quote Link to post

andy s410c 63
Get a lamp with variable brightness & bang a red filter on it,headnet & gloves to keep the white bits covered, keep downwind(if possible),noise discipline.Practice range estimation at night if possible as things tend to be a bit misleading & know your permission well to avoid accidents.... Coney 3
Let the landowner know the dates/times you are intending visiting and if possible inform the local Police station of these dates/times/locations as you don't whant dibble turning up in a ARV because someone has spotted/reported seeing someone acting suss in the dark with a gun!!!!
