shepp 2,285
Does any body know how to stop my hen being broody. She has been like this for weeks, should i take her away from the nest box or just let her sit it out?
shotup 9
take her out of the box and put her in a pen on her own with no form of nest area and feed her like that for a week or two.

skycat 6,174
I put mine in a wire cage: mesh all round with just one solid wall to protect from prevailing wind and something on top to stop the rain getting on her. Preferably put it on grass and move it every day: food and water bowls in there too obviously. The idea is to a) as has already been said, to deprive her of a nest area, and to get her body temperature down to non broody status.
on-point 0
we've always soaked their arses in cold water and then locked them in a rabbit/ferret hutch for a couple of days/week. always seems to work here, on-point
