Guest ooty
Look, the lad is asking about 3/8 5/8 dogs and people's experience with them.I've just spent the last 30 mins cleaning this thread up and that's half an hour I'll never get back. This will not be allowed to become another Hancock slagging thread. If you want to slag the bloke or defend him, use one f*****g thread so we know which one to avoid. You do my head in you lot. The last week has been just constant nonsense and bickering about Hancock....again. It's f*****g boring. Stabs, cmon now !!!...its not hancock owners (present of former) that waste and turn these posts into playground squabbles, its the same old big knobs shooting their shit off as soon as the see a hancock thread.......if the boy is looking for advice, then why should folk that have expeirence of the dogs have to suffer when they try to pass advice because of the usual suspects foaming at the mouth until they get there fingers furiously tapping away to slate not just the dogs but the members on this site that keep or have kept them...opinions is one thing but going out your way to start bother on these threads and consciously trying to get them deleted or as you have said there cleaned up is imo because of you mods jumping in on the threads when they have run there course and have now turned into bitching slagging matches, ive never seen anything wrote on here from hancock owners that is even a exaggaration of the dogs abilities, its the same old same old from the the big knobs that start all the shit off.If a person is happy enough with their choice of dog...what kind of person does it take to jump on the thread and try to put them down and try and cause squabbles and bitching........??? i beleave a lot off people are talking from experiance that have paid there money and have ended up with some of his lesser caperable dogs, you breed 750 dogs in a year, you cant possably breed all top dogs, its not neserserly poor traning iv seen two of his dogs with good owners with a very poor drive, all suffer feet injurys that i beleave could be to the fact they are not from workers, its often luck or bad luck of the draw.no offence to owners of the line.its my experiance, Edited August 23, 2008 by ooty Quote Link to post

The bitch is ten years old,and there are other forum members who can vouch for this bitch's working ability. The one point i will mention is that she was a very slow starter i asked because i have a bitch the same age who wouldnt dream of letting me retire her,on those cold drizzaly nights when you only see the odd rabbit sat agianst the hedge, you cad fire the young raceyer dogs at them but it the old dog that just turns up at your side with one, still very handy for the ferrets or long nets, ocasionly picks up rabbits on the lamp but you can see she feels it in the morning, shes moved in on the sofa these days but with her boarder collie sharpness i now the place is safe when im not in,i cant see her ever retireing, there will always be somthing for an alround working lurcher to do,she'be back out this season one way or another, Quote Link to post
fireman 11,402
If it works for you then alls good,i'm happy enough with mine but do wish he had a better strike but he once struck at a rabbit and came up with nettles instead so he hangs back a little at hedges. The lads who are allways slating mine are sofa hunters who's dogs sit on chains doing f**k all,dog swappers who would crap there pants if ever they had a good un in their kennels and never use it properly just sit around talking about it.Mine has had rabbit and hare and been in at the end of a dig for a quick rag,but this winter will show us both how he gets on.This i knew when i bought him that it won't be till he's 2 that he should come on and in this modern throw away world most lads that think their dog men wouldn't or should say can't put that bit extra time in a beardie/border cross, but one thing is i can take my dog out with ferrets, nets, be in amongst stock walk without a lead and have a gentle calm hunt that i can enjoy while they sit at home talking the talk.Mine has a very good nose, hunts up well, runs down the beam to squatters, very good waterproof rough coat and won't take off after no hopers on the other side of the field, also no worse feet than any other dogs that runs on the same ground as him and i'm out with him most days and he gives me a grand bit of sport and as this is why i got him who gives a **** what others say(whilst sat on their sofas)eh. Guest world.hunters
cheers mate, cracking stamina mate i really cannot fault him, when i was up in yorkshire for a couple months first night out he had 4 out of 4 hare 1 after another all long runs i know its not a huge amount but he was still a young dog. if he didnt have good stamina mate as he has i wouldnt even consider putting him over a grey same goes for the grey it has to have a good standard of stamina and take all game. all the best with your pup mate put in the time and reap the rewards. w.h Edited August 23, 2008 by world.hunters Quote Link to post
