Hi does anyone know if quail and chickens could be kept together?

I am getting chickens soon and just got the idea of some quails. Maybe I should walk before I can run but thats not how I operate lol :victory:

If anyone has any info on quail it would be useful, how many eggs would you expect? do they only lay in the warmer months? How hard are they do keep in general?

Hope you can help,

HJ

HJ, I keep both chickens (dorking/indian) and quail, i personaly wouldnt mix the two (but thats just me) as for the quail i keep there A&M Quail bred for the table, they lay a egg a day,17 days to hatch, and are laying by 6 weeks, ready for the table at around 9 weeks. They will lay most of the year (under lights) hope this helps...MIST NET.

Thats exactly what I was going to say, it would all depend on what chickens you were keeping, as some bantams are not much bigger than quails. :big_boss:

It doesn't matter what birds your breeding you need a cock bird with your hens.

You only need a cock bird in with your poultry if you are plan to breed/hatch out the eggs, any domestic poultry/Quail will happily lay on their own without the male bird. Have a look at battery hen's no cock birds in them cage's and hens lay loads of eggs in there.
