Grim Reaper 1
. . . . [snipped]have i lost something of it to work its way loose.it doesn't show in the manual whether there is a seal or grip round it to keep it rigid and working firm please any advise would be helpful regards Davy Davy, I think you'll find that the constituent parts of the safety are the safety switch block, a wee spring, a small ball bearing, and a little grub screw (if i remember this correctly). The safety catch block goes into the trigger first, then the ball bearing, followed by the spring, and then to close it off, you insert the grub screw. That was the case with my mate's S410, but his was an early version (his one has 3 trigger sears, and is pre anti tamper, if that helps you?). Hope this help you out some bud? Regards, Grim. Grim Reaper 1
The safety on my s410 to bits while shooting in a field just before the grass was cur for sileage Had to do without one All is not lost if the safety goes to pot, my S310 was made without a safety of any kind, and i think it has helped me to re-enforce my 'safety mind' in all respects where my air rifle is concerned. When you add to this the fact that i am teaching my 9 year old son Liam (Blue Dragon on here) the ins and outs of using an air rifle (mine in this case) the absense of a safety catch is, to me at least, of an added bonus. I say this because he is always checking the position of his trigger finger, as well as the position and orientation of the rifle itself every time he makes a move - more so i think, than if it were to have had a safety catch. When all is said and done, my own opinion is that, if taught correctly, a person doesn't HAVE to have a safety on an air rifle to be a safe and competant shot. So as i say, it won't be the end of the world if your safety falls to pieces or give up the ghost, like. I also must say that if there is a safety fitted on your air rifle, then it is best used - without fail. I think the reason why i feel confident without a safety is that when i was serving with the FN FAL 7.62 SLR, we were taught that although it did have a safety fitted, we were NEVER to rely on it or trust it. These are only my opinions on the matter, do not feel that you have to agree with, or follow them. Cheers, Grim. Quote Link to post
PeakOil 352
True not having a safety has made me more aware of where my fingers are (oh err ) where the gun is pointing, and to be more careful when putting the gun down when climbing a tree/fence/gate. Safety first and all that!! Quote Link to post
