Copper info

Recommended Posts

How often should treat my barrel to remove copper fouling? i use a .22 hornet and when i get out on the weekends i would probably put about 20 rounds through it. So should i do it after every outing?? i also use my .22 rimmy but only with subs which are lead , should this also be treated and after how many rounds? I also use a dragon mod which is usually strippable :icon_redface: but due to my neglect is no longer :censored: what solution is best to soak it in to remove crud,,

Sorry for so many questions, but i hope to get sorted once and for all... :victory:

Cheers...

Depends how conscientious you want to be, 20 shots in a Hornet and the barrel needs cleaning!!.......If you want to maintain optimum accuracy and barrel life!!

No point in using copper cleaners on the rimfire if you are only using lead subs...but rimfire propellant is filthy on the whole and tends to leave great lumps of crud up the barrel....I suggest cleaning regularly, but no need to clean anywhere near as often as the centrefires!!

Don't know the Dragon Mod...but all mods will benefit from a clean from time to time and it will also extend their life!!

I suspect many will come back with comments like..."fired 10,000 rounds in my HMR and never cleaned it, just as accurate as the day I bought it"...don't believe a word!!!
