Anyone have a PS3

Recommended Posts

If you've got windows XP, you can go into windows media player (latest version), go to, Library, then Media sharing & tick the box.

Then turn your ps3 on, and click on 'search for media servers'

Your ps3 should then show up in a little box on the screen of your PC.

Click on it, & you should get an option saying something like, 'share media with XXXXXXX'

XX being whatever you PS3 is called on your network.

You'll then be able to watch the entire content of your computer on your TV. (As long as it's in your media player library & your computer is on.)

If you want to transfer files to the hard drive of your ps3, you can get a free program from Red Kawa called PS3 Media centre X from here:

http://www.redkawa.com/mediacenters/ps3mediacenterx/

Once it's installed, you simply start the program, and it will come up on your PC with a little box with an IP address.

Open your PS3 web browser, and type the whole address in exactly as it appears on your pc.

You should then be able to download things straight from your PC to your PS3.

You must make sure that the video is in a PS3 friendly format otherwise it won't play. The same company do a converter called PS3 video 9.

If most of your videos are in Divx/Xvid format (like mine), your ps3 will play them no problem.
