just a little write up on the lansky kit i bought, i've had a try and i've got to tell you all for anyone a bit crap at sharpening knifes like myself, it's well worth the money. i purchased the deluxe kit and find i great.

So go on and treat yourselves.

you just have to spend a bit of time grinding a new edge to suit the angle on the blade from the old one on the knife.

you can adjust to suit lots of differing angles, and 20 degrees is recommended for fillet or skinning purposes also does a fine scalpel edge but is too delicate for hunting needs. well done lansky for a great piece of kit.

I have borrowed a mates in the past but keep going back to the stone, although I think the Lansky is probably the better method.

I use the standard Lansky kit and its spot on. Only down side is as you say, it take s a while to get the initial angle on the blade but after that it's a piece of piss.

Saw it in the Attleborough catalogue, looked a great piece of kit but something else I would need to find room for. Cheers, D.
