My First Buck

We (me and my uncle) seen it at about 150 yards across the heathered hill top but couldnt get a proper shot because of the position of it and the lay of the ground.

The wind was at an akward angle behind us, and he must of got our scent because he became weary and unsure and as I crawled forward on my belly to get into a shootable position, he started to run.

My heart sunk as I watched him through the scope, until I noticed he seemed to be doing a complete circle and was heading towards us...I couldnt belive it, he was starting to slow down to a stop and he did.

I knew I only had a split second to take the shot before he got a proper scent and ran off barking, and he presented himself beutifully, fully body side on at a slight angle.

 

 

The shot was taken freestanding at a meer 60 yards and enered through the heart exiting, due to the angle, through the lung as seen on the photo.

My uncle gralloched as the night was drawing in.

Tikka T3 .308 was used.
