Very nice chap what scope is that?

arcpest

hi arcpest the scope is a bushnell elite 4200 tactial 6x24x50 with side px and 30mm tube. i had it on my hmr before and i find the optics very clear the field of view on the scope is abit narrow but im use to that now. i paid £285 for it secondhand with sportsmatch mounts and buttler creek covers. there around £450 to £500 over here in the shops. i wouldnt pay that for it but for £285 secondhand its very hard to beat and as good as some leupold scopes ive looked at it has target turrets to so that mite come in handy for me to help with the range adjustment :thumbs:

Finally in your hands then Jamie,

Looks like you have a great set up there, now all as you say is to put some rounds through it.

What Mod and Ammo are you thinking?

Regards

SS :thumbs:

hi ss im going for the ase cqb mod to go on my rifle and for the ammo im going to try some cheap privi ammo to see how it shoots and to get a 20 to 30 rounds down the barrel. im also going to try the federal 55 grain softpoints and b tip bullets. the guy i got the rifle said he thinks the winchester silver tip ammo will shoot very well in it. i think its called silver tip ? it has the nickel case's. he said if i use those but go back to the other bullets to give the rifle a good scrub 1st as they leave a different coating in the barrel. :thumbs:

Well wear Jamie :thumbs:

cheers john :D

Yes, they are Silvertips, I think they only come in Ballistic Tip in .22-250

Have a look here;

http://winchester.com/products/catalog/cfr...FJlbWluZ3Rvbg==

http://winchester.com/products/catalog/cfr...FJlbWluZ3Rvbg==

The Ballistics look good on paper, still holding on a fox at 300 yards with a 150 yard Zero.

The Silvertip is coated in Lubalox, which is a type of black oxide, this should not foul your gun nor should you need to clean it overly between this round and normal ones, just clean as normal after your normal amount of rounds.

nice gun is the winchester just break that barrel in nice and steady and it will give you years of good shooting.

yes im going to do that gary. im going to put some cheaper ammo down it say 20 then rod the rifle then 20 more and rod. then im going to use the better ammo like federal or winchester silver tips if i can find them. and try some sako ammo to. i guess its just trial and see really which fires the best. ive been luck as a couple of lads off the bbs have said if i save my say 50 or a 100 at a time i can go round theres and use there reloading gear :thumbs: so work up a nice load for it.

Very smart i need a new 22/250 not sure what to get but this is a sure push to get one of thease or a remington 700.?

get one fella the rifle feels soild its heavy but i dont mind that as i will be in resting off the jeep most of the time

and if i do carry it then i haqve a couple of points on my shoot that i no are good for foxes so i can sit up there.

the winchester mod 70 stealth like this is very hard to find now and even more so when brand new like i got this.

the guy i had it off has the last 2 he no's of in this country ! he still has the other if you wanted to have a word with him about it he only charged me £25 pound to screwcut and recrown it to ! which is great and the work is super ?

but your have to be quick has he is on about keeping it himself :laugh: he had one back in the 80's he told me and wish he never sold it as itgreat with factory loads and with homeloads it was a tackdriver. :yes:

im hope mine will be the same im sure it will.

Looks like a great piece of kit Jamie! Have you had chance to try it out yet? Are you on the look out for another scope now. Saw Bushnell 6500 2.5-16x50 mildot. This looks like a great scope, going to try and get a look at one at game fair at Perth. I did see someone on here with a very good AGS and these seem very cheap. Have been looking for a second hand Bushnell since we last had a chat about scopes a couple of months ago but none to be had just yet.

Hope all goes well with the new setup.

Cheers

hi mate i havent tryed it out yet but hopfully will tomorrow tea time :clapper: i have been give some ammo off a friend to try i have pmc ammo to try out, some bt ammo to try both hornady and winchester silver tip.

and i got some 50 gr sako soft points today to try i hope they shoot well if not its of for pratice rounds and the case will be good to keep for when i reload.

as for the bushnell scope mate im going to see how i get on with it on centrefire as it worked well on my hmr the mildots at different ranges. but on the 22/250 i dont really need the mildot scope and it mite be easy if i get a scpe with less clutter in it.

if i zero 1inch high at 100 yards im not going to be far off at 300 so i wont need the mildots :thumbs:

well got it set up at last :clapper: 1 inch group but its the 1st time ive shot it and 1st time ive shot a centrefire that much so i need to get use to it. it didnt help i havent got the mod yet that will cut the recoil and in some cases make it more accurate.

it groups well with bt ammo winchester siler tip ammo and sako 50 gr softpoint touching on some of the groups.

the cheap privi ammo shots well which is good as its cheap :laugh: my mate who is a cracking shot on centrefire rifles had a 1/4 inch group with the privi ammo :yes:

so i no its me that has to brush up on it which i will once i have sorted the mod out and let the rifle barrel settle in :thumbs:

atb lads jamie

ps forgot to say one of our other mates made us a steel 6 to 7 mm thick target to pratice on.

the 22/250 went right though ! even at 200 yards !!!!! good it his hard
