BlueCoyote 0
i've been told just rubbing it vigorously will cause it to release and pull out.... but have also heard contradictory advice saying being rough with a tick will cause it to regurgitate blood back into the blood stream which could cause infection. what i do is get tweezers and have someone hold the dog (if i'm lucky to find someone that brave) and just pull it out that way. the disinfect the bite. ticks are a problem where i live. forget lymes disease.... getting bitten by a tick in my woods gives you a 50/50 chance of becoming temporarily paralyzed if you dont remove it ASAP. thats happened to a couple of dogs.. twice to one in particular. once the tick was pulled the dog was up and about again. Missie 1
Use a remover, things like alcohol, etc will cause it to regurgitate as BC says. Make sure the head is completely removed too.
