MK1 locator.

Recommended Posts

Hi all just getting back to owning my own ferts. Thanks to bigredbussa!!!!!

Still have all my kit but was a 'line man' years ago!

Have just been given a MK1 locator and couple of collars from a great mate who has 'upgraded' to the MK3!

Does anyone have an instruction book for the MK1?

A wiring diag would be good cos I would like an electronics mate to give them the once over before I venture out.

Any help gratefully received

Whats wrong with putting a battery in a collar get somebody to hide it in the garden and you popping a battery in the box and looking for the collar .That way you will know if they work and the depth wheel works true. I dont think you will get a wiring diag as debens scrape the numbers off the components to stop them being copied

I have the original instruction sheet but to be honest all you need to do is whatTHE ONE said.Make sure whoever hides it remembers where it is in case something goes wrong. :whistling: Mk 1 works most accuratly when the bottom of the grey box is pointing directly at the top (inside edge)of the transmitter on the collar (the transmitter must hang under the ferret's chin not on top of its' neck.) Lay the collar on the floor or on a long table a few feet away from the box.Turn the dial on the box up to full sensitivity..Point the base of the grey box at collar from several feet away move closer until you pick up a clicking from the box. Then turn down the sensitivity until you just -only just- lose the noise.Move a little closer and the noise will start again.Turn down sensitivity.Move closer, pick up clicks etc etc.Once you are a foot or six inches or so away the noise level will rise and fall depending how close you are . Expect a bit of interference if you hold the unit off the vertical.Basicly you,ve been given a simple ,proven and effective device. You have a good mate. Yeh Deben are really cagey about their components but will still servive your old unit .For a price ,always for a price !
