Zeroing the HMR

Recommended Posts

Went out yesterday to zero the new HMR, friend came with me and had his first rabbit with it. We carried on wandering round the field, a really flat one with long grass as it's a hay crop.

Came across a fox, young one and not quite fully grown I don't think. He saw us as we saw him and scarpered PDQ. I said to my mate that I thought the fox would be long gone.

We had seen him at a corner of the field and carried on round, but then saw him again 50 or 60 yards away. I was slow and careful and set up the 223. Shortly after, the 18p Wolf 223 55gr HP did its job wonderfully, the headshot instantly dispatching Charlie.

Since I had a camera, daylight and someone to take the picture, here is muggins with the 223 target rifle and foxy-woxy...

Carried on mooching about but that was it for us :( Good afternoon all told though, play with a new rifle and then rabbit and fox - can't complain, and the weather was nice too.

Quite scarily, this is the shorter grass - the other part of this field is much much longer...

...and what about the grass in that field a couple of days back...we nearly got lost in that (and exhausted)......send the picture to Colgate, not seen to many toothpaste adds in the shooting press so it could be a new market for them!!
