advice please dog food,

Recommended Posts

hi all,

sorry if this seems a dumb question, but any advice on dry food, what is the best,

I own 2 lurchers,, they go out most nights just mooching for about 1-2 hours but get plenty of fast runs in.

currently feeding Kirkland signature, but seems to go through them some times?

also noticed heavy plaque on there teeth.

oh and while I am here,, feeding the swift 88 as a general conditioner, any thoughts?

cheers,

rob,

Each to there own. BUT! I feed my 2 Lurchers on dry at about 18% in the Summer and about 26% in the Best Season but allways'd mixed with some sort boil up of meat and veg. My terriers get the same but about 9% dry (sack) food.

which food brand do you prefer, have used australian science and gain previously with the staffs, just wonder whats best with the running dogs, just here to learn, the only real meat they get is chicken wings a few times a week,

Raw lamb and bone is the very best way to give dogs tapeworms! Having said that it does bang on condition and weight. I like to feed a dry mix and suplement that with raw. Keep on top of them laggy bands though, wormers don't half cost :big_boss:

Have you tried beta greyhound complete? It is about £11 per 15kilo sack, no V.A.T.

Get them out there catching rabbits then they'll be feeding themselves.

between my inexperience and their age, think we all go hungry,,, ha ha,, can only get better!

cheers

Best diet i have found is the flesh and bone diet keeps their teeth healthy and it normally does not run through them and i also give my lurchers a boiling of vegetables and chicken once a week as a change.Although through the winter i mostly feed cooked rabbits and this also cuts down on the feed bills as well as being the best, freshest and additive free meat you can get

 i get bags of barf free every week from the butcher , dogs look great on it .if you feed dry you will find the dogs shit loads more (put shit in........you get shit out)
