Fighting Ferrets

just abit concerned , i have seperated my ferrets up 2 in the court and 2 in the smaller hutch ,a hob and a jill in each area , but the newcomer a hob which is not longed weaned off his mother is starting to get his necked chewed up , since i only have a hutch and a court i cant seperate any more beacuse the 2 jills also seem to be fighting now since the new hob arrived, any help would be much appreciated of what to do in this situation

I'm no expert - I do dogs, not ferrets - but it sounds like they are just sorting out the hierarchy and mating rites. I would probs leave them to it unless 1 is seriously injured, once the new one learns its place the fighting should stop. But as I said, I'm no expert in ferrets

is the kit totally independent & able to hold its own, or is it fairly quiet anyway & not tazzing around like you expect kits to do

this is my first time having a kit but he seems to be able to carry out everything normally , apart he never seems to retaliate to the jills biteing him

try him again when he is a bruiser , once he gets confident he will be ok & whoop there arses for them

i keep a jill or two with mother or hob and work them together best way to follow mama if shees agood un , but i never put strange ferrets in with the dog ferrets at this time of year, a young hob would get a real biting as they are shagging mad ,at this time of year with the light nites etc , i wait till he can hold his own and later on in the year usally

The new hob is still a baby and the jill is mothering him (trying to put him back in the nest )his resistance is causing the marks on his neck.The 2 jills are not fighting ( I take it you tryed them together)they are trying to mother each other.! jill 1hob in each cage your best combination. Hope this helps

Ive a hob and a jill in a hutch and the screams but there from the hob the jill keeps trying to drag him into the sleeping compartment .They will settle down though its just her mothering your hob kitt as her hormones are all screwed up .
