how do you read a chrony?

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me how to read a chrony?

Do you have to round the end figure up or down?

The answer i got was for ft/lbs was 10916.953.

Would this be 10.9 ft/lbs???

WHAT CHRONY DO YOU HAVE??

i have a chrony f1 gives measurements in feet per second. to get foot pounds take the pellet weight Multiplied by FPS x FPS and divide the whole lot by 450437 that will give foot pounds.

thanks sean3513, ive just tried that calculation and it moved the decimal place along 3 places to give 10.916953. now thats more like it, isnt it?

10.9ft/lbs.

Do you think i should crank it up a touch to more like 11.5ish?

The gun is an Air Arms S410 and im using daystate select 177 pellets. Its just been back to Air Arms for warranty work on the pressure guage and im under the understanding that airgun suppliers have to take steps to reduce the power of the guns that are returned to the factory. I didnt have the chrony before the warranty work was done so im not sure if this was the power of it all the long.

So do you think it woud be a good idea to bump the power up a touch??

would be ok if you stick to those pellets................only danger is if you change to a different pellet you could go over the legal 12ft/lb limit!!!!!!!

air arms probably set it up with this in mind.

personally i wouldn't......................not for 0.6ft/lb.

better to be safe.

hope this helps

regards

sean
