Guest snatch flcc
Hi there its been a few weeks since I have been out with the hare shooting club, work commitments and all that, nightmare but unfortunately a necesity! Anyway went out with the club again yesterday, took a fifteen minute walk to the first field which was huge, got the first two dogs ready to flush up the hare (one was my bitch lotti), they flushed it up, it got up about 60 yards in front of them then ran it about 100 yards and caught it on the first turn, obviously we were going to shoot the hare but the dogs got in the way! Next up was a tiny pure bred whippet about 19-20 inches, she was with a small whippet x lurcher, they flushed up there hare about yards away and I was convinced they wouldnt even get a turn in but they got onto in and had a fantastic flush turning the hare back and forth eventually catching it in front of the hedge! Next 3 flushes were over the over the brow out of sight, we were hoping the dogs would flush the hares back to the gun but the hare were lost in a wood. Next up was Lotti again with here partner dipper they flushed up there hare about 70 yards to the left of us and continued to run it trying to flush it back to us for the gun, they got to it and started to really work it, as they brought it back towards us they struck it and no3 was in the bag, obviously this was an unfortunate thing but is inevitable when flushing hares for the gun! next 4 pairs of dogs all flushed there hares to the wood! We found 14 hares on the one field and flushed 10 so it was quite good field! On the way back I had my dog off to flush a hare on his own, he found the hare about 50 yards ahead and ran it up to the hedge, seemed to lose it for a few seconds and then got sight again and flushed it back into the field in full view, (the gun was ready but seemed to be jammed????) he turned and turned and was all over it until eventually catching it in the air! All in all one of the best days hare shooting iv had since the ban! it was fantastic, plenty of hares seen and flushed and although catching a few was unfortunate I was obviously not very pleased that 2 of my dogs caught 3 but i accept its part of new laws in place and although the dogs were only used to flush up the hares it is a fact that sometimes hares will be caught! Although I do not participate in Hare coursing some great fun can be had flushing up hares for the gun! Until next time Happy belated new year to all! Quote Link to post

Foxgun Tom 75
As a gun, I go out all the time with my mates (NEILSTON WORKING DOG ASSOCIATION) and their dogs, and it can be very frustrating for the likes of me as sometimes I'm unable!!!!!! to to even fire the gun for a number of reason's that are within the law?? but, I have to be there as a legal requirement . (are'nt legal loopholes wonderfull) I've even had a complete miss a few times and the dogs, have still been able to deliver the odd rabbit or hare to hand. Its funny when I'm out with my own dogs, GSP's I don't have the same difficulties  I'm glad I'm not alone in this minor shooting problem , but at least the others have great days like you describe Snatch and I hope you have many more Tom Edited January 7, 2006 by Foxgun Tom Quote Link to post
