Scuzy 1
Hi all, i seem to have a bit of a promlem as my jill has just dropped some of her kits (about 6 of them) and she still seems to have some left inside her. From what i can tell she has had them last night just as they were due as i went down theis morning to feed her and i can hear lots of squeaking but i noticed one kit was in her shit corner with a sac of some sort still attatched to its belly so i pulled it off and the kit was cold but moving and squeaking so i quickly put it back in the nest while the jill was distracted and give the jill some egg and goats milk and left her to be. So my questions are; 1. Whats the longest it will it take for the jill to have the rest of the kits, as i dont want to be rushing down the vets for nothing when its normal for her to have them over a few days or so. And, 2. What about the kit in the shit corner? Any help appreciated, Regards, Luke. Quote Link to post

Scuzy 1
Right just been back down there to make sure everything is ok and i counted 5 kits fedding off the jill but then i heard squeaking from the corner and to my suprise the kit that she had put in the shit corner was buried under the straw again still cold but moving and squeaking so i put it back with the others and she just picked it up and buried it in the straw again . Can anyone help she just seems to be rejecting it all the time . Luke. Quote Link to post

Kay 3,709
it could just be the kits not right & thats why she rejected it Quote Link to post

stubby 175
good on you for putting the link up pitindall, yup, Id say, she knows best, and your just have to accept that although alive at the mo, that one is going to die, my jill did extactly the same, but I now have 5 healthy kitts from her roughly 2 weeks old, Quote Link to post
gilly-93 31
so does that meen that you should put it out of its mysery or leave it be? Quote Link to post
Scuzy 1
Thanks for the replys, and ive just checked again and its dead . Stubby, i just checked you post (thanks pitiindall ) and its exactly the same thing thats happening to me and yes i guess you do have to let nature get on with it . But she still hasent dropped the rest of the kits, i know theres some left because shes still quite large, and i can fell them when i stroke her stomach. So Stubby, how long did you have to wait for all of the kits to be born? Regards, Luke. Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
I wouldnt chance leaving her any longer than tomorrow if she still hasnt passed them there probably dead now Quote Link to post
stubby 175
from dropping the dead one, to the last of the five, was three days, but at the end of the day, you will have to do what you feel is right, Im a let nature take its course type bloke, Im not knocking vets, but to me, they are rip off merchants (round here anyway) if you feel she needs to get looked at then get her too one, asap saying that, alot of people, even though they would like the reasurance of a vets advice, just havent got the funds Quote Link to post

Scuzy 1
Stubby, in your topic (http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=49438&st=0&p=499858entry499858 lorelei0922 talked about how the jills could be pregnant at different times? Well i did leave the hob in there for 4 days and he was mating with her right up until i took him out, so perhaps he fertilized the eggs at different times? Quote Link to post
