dawnraider 2
managed to scruff a rabbit out of a woodpile yesterday,so i took it out into the open with my pup and gave him a go,after a chase of 50-60 yds or so the rabbit found cover and pup came back with a mouthfull of flick, not bad for 4 months old what do you think.a wise move or not as ive always started my dogs at about 8 months. maty j 6
not really the most sporting thing to do! if it was my pup, id rather start it when it has a real chance and is more developed. id edit the post aswell or i can see it getting pulled! tote 870
You asked for opinions so here's mine. I think your pup is far too young to be chasing rabbits, even dropped ones.[it's known as baiting so is illegal I know it goes on but best not to say your doing it on an open forum]. Spend the spring and summer months bonding with and obedience training the pup and you'll reap the rewards in the autumn when she's 9 -10 month. If you start him too young and over tax him you'll do more harm than good. He's a pup let him do puppyish things. Quote Link to post
