Gun stock finish

did mine with gun stock wax from local gun shop.............lost the bloody tin so cant tell you what make it is but i think it was BISLEY......really nice job and hasn't made it slippery either.

 

sorry to be vauge......but its the best ive got to offer!!!!!!!!!!

just seen this in a post by twins ( the lad thats just bought 2 AA s410)

 

had to make my own gunstock wax,

from my own recipe, bees wax, white wax polish, walnut oil, meths, turpentine substitute, white knotting. boiled linseed oil,

You can use most oils to treat your stock, Lard works particularly well. Buff it into the wood using various grades of wire wool (starting with course and finnishing with fine).

This method is very cheap and labour intensive but it does produce a good finnish, You can always top it up with a bees-wax polish but i wouldnt bother.

Try it out on a small area first, Because if you start and get a little too giddy there may be no turning back. :thumbs:

Teal oil/walnut oil I used to be a cabinet maker/french polisher Oil will be perfect apply it as follows ( to bare wood) once a day for a week once a week for a month once a month for a year and every year after that it will look and feel great and be totally weather resistant.
