Snap Shot

Personal View

First ...I just don't see the TRG..it has absolutely no use except as a prone range gun!

Second...I have not shot the Super Varmint but I have shot the Tactical and they are almost identical!

Pretty much the same response as above, it might be called a Super Varmint but it weighs a ton and I see it a almost exclusively a Range gun. I would not want to be carting this around the fields for long and I don't see any chance of using it standing!

But..we are all different..if that's what you are after, then as a gun I'd say it was very good, I shot the .223 Tactical at 600yards at Bisley and it did the job!

Deker not a problem mate, but most of my stalking is done through close fields, so lugging it about for an hour would not be a problem, but i intend to use it mainly as a range weapon and use the 595 as my stalking weapon when covering big distances,

So weight would not bother me too much. i'm just looking for hard facts of build and accuracy.

thanks for the input.

I had a Varmint in .223, the Super Varmint as far as I remember without searching just had added adjustable cheekpiece and picatinny rail? Mine shot like crap, but that was a fault with that particular rifle, nothing more. As for weight, well, yes it'll be heavy  I use varmint type barrels for foxing and I don't mind carrying that weight but you will feel it. It just depends on your own personal view on that issue ;)

I recently had the oppertunity to look at the Tikka Hunter in 6.5x55 and it's a lovely rifle, I'd buy one myself if I had a reason to. There's also the Tikka Lite to consider, but I think it's butt fugly ;)

I know I've not answered your question, because I've not shot one. Trigger will be nice

Hi Ive brought a super varmint in .243. I had to wait 6 months for it as they are special order. It arrived last Fri. Im just in the process of getting it screw cut and should get it back this Fri and Ill be putting some rounds through it on sat and sun. This is my first center fire and Ill mainly be using it for foxing out the roof of the land rover and the odd deer in the high seat. Ill let you know how I get on.

Can't say about the particualt T3 you are after, but I have a T3 stainless lite in .243 for deer stalking, fitted with T8 mod, S&B scope & Harris bipod. The T8 mod makes it heavy to carry all day, but that's a price I'm willing to pay.

Lovely rifle.

Trigger superb - not too heavy, breaks like glass (although have to admit I did ask the very good gunsmith who sold me it to set it up properly!).

Action superbly smooth.

Accuarcy excellent, as various Roe and a big 10 pointer red have found to their peril!

Best wishes

snap shot I havent forgot about you. My rifle is still at the proof house Im hoping to get it back this wkend .

The only problem Ive got is the Mrs is off fri to tue this wkend and she wants some "quality time". She said this doesnt include time sitting around Misterly while I letch over me new gun !

ive got one in 243 had it just over 12 months now and put over 1000 rounds through it. it shoots hand loads from 55 to 100gr all under 3/4 moa when loaded right. im about to give some 105gr amax a try. the ajustible cheeck rest makes a big difference with the 50mm objectives. i lightened the trigger off on mine from the factory settings its easy done with an allen key. so far theres been no disslikes with it i like a heavy gun and find them easyer to shoot off hand than a light weight gun
